Welcome to the Washington County PAF Users Group (WC-PAF Users Group). PAF stands for Personal Ancestral File, a genealogy software program that helps you organize your research findings, print numerous reports, and share your findings with others. (Free Download, Installation Instructions) But teaching PAF is only a small part of what the WC-PAF Users Group does. The Group sponsors monthly classes on a variety of useful and timely topics taught by staff instructors and guest speakers. Training is provided for PAF, Legacy, RootsMagic, PAF Insight, FamilySearch Internet, Ancestry, and other useful and productive resources that further Family History work. Public Meetings The WC-PAF Users Group meets monthly on the 3rd Saturday from 10:00 am to Noon. Meetings are held at the LDS Morningside Stake Center (N-E corner of the building) at the corner of 900 South and River Road in St. George, Utah (Map). This is one block south of Harmons grocery store. Meetings are not held in August. Visitors are welcome to attend our public meetings with no cost or obligation. Everyone is invited without regard to family history experience, computer background, or religious affiliation. Classes and Personal Tutoring Our meetings begin with a short business session, after which a class is presented (Class Schedule). Among the Board and Members of the Group are mentors who volunteer to teach others how to make best use of their computer, genealogy software, and genealogy websites. Monthly Newsletter The Group publishes a monthly Newsletter to its members (Sample Newsletter). It contains interesting, timely and useful articles and how-to instruction to assist in genealogy research and Family History work. |

Who Are We? The WC-PAF Users Group was organized and incorporated in the state of Utah in November of 1991. The Officers and Board Members are volunteers who are elected annually from the general membership. The WC-PAF Users Group is a non-profit, non-denominational, corporation dedicated to assist, instruct and empower its members to be effective in the exciting and important activity of building personal, family, and ancestral histories. We emphasize the use of computers to find, organize, and share ancestral information. Membership Membership dues ($12 per family per year) are paid by the year, January 1st through December 31st., and are prorated for new members who join during the year ($3 per quarter until the end of the year). Membership dues are used to pay operating expenses such as publishing and distributing a monthly newsletter, printed class handouts, and maintaining equipment owned by the Group. Funding from the Group comes from dues and contributions. We receive no financial support from any outside organization including the LDS Church other than their kindness to allow us to meet in their building. Volunteers If you are knowledgeable in Family History, computers, or the Internet and would be willing to share your talents, please contact a Board Member. Community Projects The Group is currently assisting in the Washington County Transcription Project. When it is completed all Burial Records in Washington County will be available on the Internet with supplemental information from funeral homes and personal histories. |

2006 Mexico Cruise Highlights In December 2006 the Group sponsored a week-long cruise to Mexico. In addition to seeing the sites of three major ports genealogy classes were taught while the ship was at sea. I would like to be on the list to be notified for the next cruise. |
